I was thrilled when pinup photographer Autumn Luciano contacted me to do some photo's of her models wearing my snoods. Having looked through Autumn's portfolio I didn't hesitate a moment knowing the photo's she would take would be amazing!
Autumn worked with the yellow, cherry red and white snoods and came up with some spectacular shots. The lovely models are Frankie Louveles (red and yellow) and Valerie Boerema

Autumn is also currently working on a pinup calendar called Pin Ups Love Pussycats.

Pin ups love pussycats is a calendar project consisting of the donated talents of many wonderful ladies. 100% of the profits from the calendar will benefit The Mid-Michigan Cat Rescue, in hopes to secure a larger facility to house the ever growing population of homeless cats through out Mid-Michigan. MMCR is a NO-KILL organization.

The Holiday Season is fast approaching! If you will be needing a snood for a special event please order sooner then later. Please let me know when you check out if you will be needing an item for a specific date and I will do my best to accommodate you. You may also convo me in advance if you will be needing faster shipping than 1st Class.
I try to fill orders within 10 days of receiving them but through the Holiday Season this may be extended due to the number of orders I receive.

As mentioned in my post the other day I am taking stock of my yarn colors and deciding what colors to keep for the 1940's snood and what colors to discontinue. I am also considering adding some new ones.

Spreading The Snood Fever

I am happy to announce that a line of my Arthelia A. snoods are now being carried at Beauty's Boutique located in Central Mall in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Beauty's Boutique sells clothing for everyone! Men's, Women's, and Baby apparel and accessories. Modern and Retro furniture and housewares are also for sale. The theme of the store is west coast/ pin up/ 50's/ handmade/ with a bit of nyc flair.

Beauty's Boutique is run by the lovely Bevin Green. While we were chatting she asked me a little about the history of snoods so I thought I would share it with you too.

Snoods have been around for centuries. From the Renaissance time period.....



To the Civil War era.



When Gone With The Wind hit theaters in the late 1930's it brought them back into fashion......

...throughout the 1940's.







Women working in factories during WWII especially loved them for their ability to keep there hair back and still look good.

Today they are a must have accessory for the modern girl who loves the vintage or pinup look!

Colorful Snood Goodness!

It's been a pretty busy week and a half around here filling orders. I had such a variety of colors ordered that I thought I would take the opportunity to photograph them together. I had more after these were taken but these had to ship. I also made up the medium blue and the flamingo pink for the first time. I think they are my 2 new favorites!

Vintage Goes Modern

Last week I was contacted by the lovely Nina McDermott for a custom order for two of the 1940's style snoods. Nina is a makeup artist and a talented jewelry designer. She wanted the snoods to use in an upcoming professional photo shoot. This was quite and honor for me and Nina was kind enough to share some of the lovely photos with me!

I really love how these photo's show how the snood can be worn with modern styles as well those that are vintage inspired.


Here is a closeup of Nina's earrings. Aren't they lovely? You can see more of her pieces in her Etsy shop.

The gorgeous model is Kara Birkenstock. Her hair was done by Jonathan Howard.
