POLL: Beautiful COLORS!

As mentioned in my post the other day I am taking stock of my yarn colors and deciding what colors to keep for the 1940's snood and what colors to discontinue. I am also considering adding some new ones.
The picture above shows the current colors I carry. Below are some colors I can add if there is enough interest in them.
Please take a look and vote in the polls on the right. You can vote for as many colors as you like. I will keep the polls open for one week. Tell your friends! I appreciate your feedback!
Thank you!

Finally something for ME!

I have made so many Mary Hoyer doll outfits over the years but I have never made one for myself. I usually don't have time. This happened to be a slow work week for me so I took advantage of that fact and made an outfit for a doll that I recently acquired. The doll is an unmarked composition doll that has the Mary Hoyer face. I decided to make her this outfit using the Mary Hoyer crochet pattern "V-Mail for her V-Male" I thought the lavender color suited her black hair.

Ready For 2011!!!

I am happy to say that the Mildred bag is nearing completion and will be new in my shop for January 2011. I have had my hands kept busy filling snood orders so have had little time to work on it. It is faced and lined and only waiting for the arrival of a zipper to finish it off. Here are some sneak peeks:

Also for 2011 I am looking into changing up the 1940's snood color pallet. Some less popular colors will be dropped and some new colors will be added. I will be keeping my best selling shades of red, black, white and cream. Watch my shop for the last of the colors I will be discontinuing.

I have some other ideas I am working on for this year including a special offering for models to earn some free snoods!
Stay tuned!

Spreading The Snood Fever

I am happy to announce that a line of my Arthelia A. snoods are now being carried at Beauty's Boutique located in Central Mall in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Beauty's Boutique sells clothing for everyone! Men's, Women's, and Baby apparel and accessories. Modern and Retro furniture and housewares are also for sale. The theme of the store is west coast/ pin up/ 50's/ handmade/ with a bit of nyc flair.
They also have a Facebook store so if you aren't in the area take a peek and order online.
Beauty's Boutique is run by the lovely Bevin Green. While we were chatting she asked me a little about the history of snoods so I thought I would share it with you too.

Snoods have been around for centuries. From the Renaissance time period.....

To the Civil War era.

When Gone With The Wind hit theaters in the late 1930's it brought them back into fashion......

...throughout the 1940's.

Women working in factories during WWII especially loved them for their ability to keep there hair back and still look good.

Today they are a must have accessory for the modern girl who loves the vintage or pinup look!
